This can be cause by directional mic on the phone. Try changing the angle at which you hold the mic to the speaker. For the seated position measurements, be sure you have enough volume. Try this if you want to get best results: http://www.daytonaudio.com/index.php/imm-6-idevice-calibrated-measurement-microphone.html

I have a NV Shield 2 set top box and the Element app is not compatible with Tegra processor so it will not show up.

I connected my NAD 3020 to the optical out of my Arris DVR and it only accepts PCM input, so when I set the DVR to that, the sound goes out when you change channels, until you set it to stereo, in the DVR. Rinse and repeat. So others are having problems with this Arris optical and the output format. One clear benefit of the Elac is Dolby support.

Okay, Now I can connect both a Android 6 device and 5.1 to the Amp stream. The Elac remote can control the playback and skip song but there is no sound at any volume level on the device or the amp volume. I do get a burst of noise on both tested devices but no music sound at any volume. I have used Onkyo player, Google Music and Youtube successfully in the first tests but they make no sound now with either device! Help!

They are not offering to pay for the return. I hope you will. The HTC M7 still cannot see the amp stream. The Android 6 and two Android 5+ devices can connect to the stream but there is no audio.

I plugged an optical cable from my arris dvr to the elac while it was on. I then tried to switch to optical 1. the unit was completely locked up by this can could not be powered off with the remote. I pulled the power and turned it back on and set the input to optical 1. Still nothing. I hit optical 1 again and dolby showed up on the elac and it began to work.

Okay, today the strange behavior is this: When I connect a Android 5 (Dell V8)device to the Amp stream it connects and plays music but all the remote controls that would skip a song on your device don’t work but the display on the Elac reports them correctly. My next step was to connect the HTC M7 Android 5.1 which has not seen a Amp stream from my creation of this thread. It failed to connect twice while pairing was reported on the Elac then on the third time it connected and the remote control of the song skip feature works. Music streams normally.

It seems that whatever is defective with this BT radio is causing erratic behavior of many different types. It makes the unit very unreliable for anyone who wants to use BT as their source. Failure to stay connected, Failure to broadcast the amp stream after connecting 4 devices, fails to remotely control the source software when paired and playing, locking up when an optical connection is the source and connected while powered on, coming back to life and broadcasting the amp stream after a new device is added to the BT connection, stuttering and sputtering while streaming music, and the worst part is it is intermittent.

During all tests the device was to the right of a PS3. The PS3 was off. On the last day of testing the optical 1 was connected to a Arris DVR. Before this all testing was done with only Speakers connected. One could guess that having another source connected and switching made the AMP stream available to all devices again. Now when I return the amp it is streaming to all my devices with some glitches described above. I hope you can replicate the problems.

The unit was returned. I left the tracking number on Joe’s voice mail. Please ship the replacement.

IMPORTANT update. I tried a brand new phone. It sees the control stream but there is no amp stream – the different behavior is that the word pairing stays on! I have not been contacted by anyone about the RMA. This new phone is Android 6. On the second attempt the amp stream appeared and it paired. I will now test other older devices.

Joe contacted me, by conference call with engineers and arranged to replace the unit directly, so that they could evaluate my equipment. This is the best way to resolve the problem and make sure I am one of the few customers affected.

I left a phone message. I am comparing this to a NAD 3020. I repeated the test today and the device that connects to the control stream still connects and controls. No amp stream is available during the pairing procedure. The android device is sitting on top of the unit during pairing in the event signal strength is the problem. I am using a venue 8 7000 as the control and a HTC one m7 as the streamer. I have tried streaming with both as they worked during the first two days of testing.

I tested the Nola Brio Trio Sat/sub system with the Elac amp. I listened for a month with the sub out connection to the sub. The speaker designer didn’t recommend this and wants the sub connected by way of speaker pass through cables for best results. He believes the quality of his crossover components better integrate the sub. I removed the sub out connection and wired in an additional set of speaker cables to the sub and the results were much better than using the Elac blending configuration w/o making any changes to the Elac EQ. His approach is a minimal signal path. I will now reconfigure the EQ w/o using the blending feature to see the results.

Yes, I am aware of those limitations and turn off all BT devices at one point in the testing. I also used a BT detection app to see if it could see the amp stream.
