I plan on setting up a home theater system using the debut speakers. What would you recommend to fill out a 5.1 setup on a $1,200 budget for the speakers? This will be used mainly for movies.
I would start off with a C5 centre speaker and S10EQ subwoofer. For fronts and surrounds, two pairs of B5 bookshelf speakers will put you slightly under your budget while two pairs of B6 bookshelves will put you just over your budget. Personally, I think it’s worth stretching the budget very slightly to get the B6s (will move more air).
Would you recommend the bookshelves over the towers, then?
Bookshelves would be my choice over towers ONLY if: a) you want to keep to your budget, and b) the low frequencies will be handled by a subwoofer.
