All 3 stars are for the outstanding audio quality and beautiful construction. No stars for functionality. The app is deplorable. It’s disappointing that Elac has essentially dismissed this speaker, considering they still sell it. The app is the only way to access the equalizer, play on multiple speakers, and connect to WiFi. The Bluetooth works but only allows for limited functionality. For example the volume control is limited to the volume set on the speaker itself. So if it isn’t all the way up on the speaker (physically adjusted on the speaker itself), you can only turn it up from your phone as loud as it’s set. Plus the increments are much too large. You could change it in the app, if it worked. In the 2 years I’ve had these speakers (I have 2), the app has maybe worked 3 times, and I’ve tried hundreds. All that said, I’m still a loyal Elac customer, which is why it’s so upsetting that they refuse to fix the app.

I suggest connecting this speaker to a wired ethernet connection to get started. Go through the steps of updating the firmware of the speaker via the Elac phone app. Once that’s done and the speaker reboots, it will function as designed and will be able to join your wifi network and be discovered by Roon and Tidal Connect. The sound is really excellent, it has clear and crisp highs and good bass, especially for the size of this unit. I currently alternate between my bathroom and back patio and it’s great for this type of application. I don’t think it would work too well for a living room setup since it lacks any digital inputs other than bluetooth. I will say that the bluetooth doesn’t have a long range but it does sound pretty good.
