On April 1st, the Recording Academy’s MusiCares celebrated Joni Mitchell’s creative accomplishments and philanthropic work, awarding her the title of 2022 Person of the Year. At ELAC, our goal is to bring people together in a journey through The Life of Sound; that’s why we’re proud to donate a one-of-a-kind Miracord 80 turntable for the Recording Academy’s MusiCares auction — to be enjoyed with the Joni Mitchell signed vinyl boxset (MusiCares Person of the Year 2022).
“MusiCares ongoing support for music people is truly inspiring, and ELAC is excited to be part of the event celebrating Joni Mitchell as Person of the Year this April. Joni is one of music’s greatest songwriters and musicians, and countless fans have grown up listing to her songs on a turntable. To be associated with this great cause is just a small way for us to share our Life of Sound.”
—Joe Riggi, President – ELAC Americas
The event was held a day before the 64th Grammys in Las Vegas and raised funds for the many crucial programs and relief efforts provided by MusiCares, including their immeasurable support in health, financial, and rehabilitation resources for the music community. They help the humans behind music… because music gives so much to the world.
The star-studded attendees enjoyed performances from many GRAMMY-winning and-nominated artists such as Beck, Brandi Carlile, Cyndi Lauper, Billy Porter, Jon Batiste, Pentatonix, Leon Bridges, Lauren Daigle, Sara Bareilles, Chaka Khan, St. Vincent, Mickey Guyton and more.

The one-of-a-kind Miracord 80 turntable will be auctioned off to raise funds for social service needs within the music community.
“We are so excited to bring together an amazing line-up of artists to celebrate the musical career of Joni Mitchell. She is being honored not only for her iconic music and lyrics, but for her trailblazing spirit and the inspiration she’s brought to so many singer/songwriters.”
—Laura Segura, Executive Director, MusiCares
Some past artists who have received MusiCares Person Of The Year include Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Lionel Richie, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Barbra Streisand, Neil Young, Aretha Franklin, Brian Wilson, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, and Luciano Pavarotti.
From all of us at ELAC, a huge congratulations to Joni Mitchell!
