Al-Sandwich

The rigidity of the aluminium aluminum combined with the damping of a cellulose layer - thanks to aluminium aluminum sandwich technology, the audio reproduction achieved by ELAC bass drivers is very precise.

In a special glueing procedure, an aluminium foil of 0.2 mm is joint to a pulp fibre cone to form a sandwich membrane.
The result: reduced partial oscillations, no distortions and an optimized large signal behaviour.
In combination with the aluminum-coloured tweeters, the aluminum sandwich woofers also make innovative technology a visual experience.

Coaxial

Thanks to their coaxial design, not only do the bass drivers and tweeters never miss a beat, with their compact design they also complement each other perfectly. Sometimes the best things come in small packages.

Early in the R&D process of the 301.2 coaxial driver the idea was to improve the sound performance of a bass driver based on a predefined enclosure size. The solution came quickly and led to the present oval shape. More difficult was the design and integration of the tweeter. The goal was being compact without compromising sound quality. After initial listening tests a fabric dome version was out of question. In search of the ideal position of the tweeter, multiple listening sessions proved that a concentric orientation of both drivers did not deliver acceptable results. This finally led to the asymmetric coaxial array. After further listening tests and multiple measurements it was obvious that a premium and well-balanced solution in this particular case could only be achieved far from what the textbooks would suggest.

Fabric Dome

Even at higher volumes, the fabric dome tweeter always provides a smooth audio experience.

Transparent sound is reproduced by this 25 mm tweeter consisting of a coated silk dome resulting in a smooth roll off at frequencies above 20,000 Hz without noticeable resonances. A special wave-guide together with the protection grille results its wide dispersion characteristics.
Its extraordinary power handling capacity is resulting from two design features: the compact high efficiency neodymium magnetic system with cooling fins and the aluminium voice coil cooled by ferro-fluid.
Additionally, the magnetic system is shielded.
Due to the new faceplate (back high gloss) only the tweeter grille and woofer diaphragm are visible, the kick of the new 60.2 Series.

LLD

The Long Linear Drive combines a short-wound four layer voice coil moving in a tall and extremely strong magnet system. The result: striking and precise bass sound.

The LLD driver technology (Long Linear Drive) is based on the movement of a short-wound coil (winding height: 6.5 mm) in a long air gap (height: 16 mm) with a homogeneous magnetic field. This design results in extremely linear (without distortions) movement within an amplitude of ±8 mm. The voice coil exactly mirrors the applied audio signal.

The maximum displacement is an impressive ±16 mm.

ELAC's LLD woofers use high-quality titanium bobbins for greater mechanical stability. This also reduces eddy-current losses and helps achieve deeper and more precise bass reproduction.
Neodymium magnets are used to increase magnetic flux density and to save space, providing optimum magnetic field geometry and greater efficiency.
The aluminum sandwich woofers of the FS 607 CE, FS 609 CE, the ELAC 330 CE, and of the SUB 2060 D use this driver technology.

Push/Pull

For a perfect, clean and distortion-free sound reproduction, the push-push/pull-pull arrangement of the two woofers eliminates vibrations and mechanical resonances.

Remote Control

For those who want to get things moving without having to move themselves: The handy remote control for subwoofers.

The most important functions of the subwoofers SUB 2080 D, SUB 2060 D and SUB 211 D may be adjusted by the ELAC subwoofer infrared remote control.

These functions are the master volume (VOLUME ±), the subwoofer crossover frequency (CROSSOVER ±) and two equalizer presets named “AUDIO” and “VIDEO”.

These presets adjust the parametric equalizer which is integrated in the subwoofer to default values. “AUDIO” means a linear frequency response, “VIDEO” results in a bass boost of approx. 6 dB in the upper bass range (around 60 Hz ). This preset is especially suitable for home cinema use, whereas the preset “AUDIO” is provided for high quality music reproduction.
